MORAD ANTENNAS

"The World's Toughest Antennas"

Alphatron USA is the master distributor of Morad antennas. Morad Electronics is the oldest marine antenna manufacturer in the United States. From its first year, Morad has earned an almost legendary reputation for building dependable, rugged and technically superior antennas. These outstanding qualities have made Morad antennas the standard for commercial applications in North America and abroad. Loyalty to Morad products and services is well-known.

Today, Morad combines hand-built manufacturing experience with modern tooling and testing equipment. Since the company manufactures marine and specialty antennas exclusively, Morad antennas are the highest quality available.

Morad uses stainless steel and anodized aluminum materials, proven by years of testing and field use to be the most durable alloys in harsh marine environments. Morad's flexible manufacturing system ensures that special orders are not a problem.

Morad can provide special frequency antennas from 500 kHz to 1.2 GHz. We have also developed many land-based specialty antennas for government, aircraft and telecommunications industry use. Satisfied customers include the US Coast Guard, NOAA and the US Forest Service.

I. VHF/HF ANTENNAS

VHF-156 HD "Hot Rod" is a heavy duty Marine VHF 6dB gain antenna designed to give years of optimum performance under the most severe weather and vibration conditions. Due to its excellent propagation pattern and low angle of radiation, clipping and fading are minimized. The design of this antenna enables it to consistently outperform its competitors. Use of a larger diameter rod, instead of a small wire, decreases resistive losses and provides an increased radiation surface. The model VHF 156 HD is base fed through a PL-259 UHF connector and a 50 ohms coaxial cable and can be mounted on any Morad 1" diameter stanchion for extra height. The antenna body is 1.5" o.d. painted aluminum tube and has a high tensile strength stainless steel tip. $142.00 Part #9120

Model VHF 156-Deluxe Antenna The Morad Deluxe Style 156 MHz Marine VHF Antenna is designed to give years of optimum performance under the most severe weather and vibration conditions.
This small, but durable, 3dB gain antenna is designed for masthead mounting on sailboats and high-speed power boats where small size and low weight are important considerations. The VHF
156-Deluxe retains Morad’s standard of endurance and high performance. It provides optimum communication power even when heeled in heavy weather. The attached PL-259 base connector allows for easy installation on Morad VHF marine mounts.

Model VHF 156-FG Fiberglass Antenna
The Morad VHF 156-FG 156 MHz Fiberglass Marine VHF Antenna is designed to give years of optimum performance under the most severe weather and vibration conditions.
This high performance fiberglass 6dB gain antenna is designed for all weather use on sailboats and powerboats. The antenna is designed with corrosion resistant aluminum tubing in all radiating elements and is sealed in a tapered fiberglass tip. The base socket is threaded to fit any 1" x 14
standard ratchet mount and comes with 20' of 50 ohms permanently attached RG-58/U coaxial cable.

Model VHF 156-10dB Antenna
The Model VHF 156-10dB Antenna has six full-length 1/2 wave sections fed in phase with no dielectric loss. Like all Morad Antennas, the VHF 156-10dB is a 10dB gain antenna designed for optimum performance under severe weather and vibration conditions. All external radiating surfaces are anodized aluminum or stainless steel. All anodized aluminum sections are then painted with a white highgloss powder coat. The fiberglass sections are painted with a high gloss “Mil Spec” white paint. The Model VHF 156-10dB is base fed through a PL-259 UHF connector and 50-ohms coaxial cable. It has an O-ring seal to protect the coaxial line from moisture.

This antenna (Model VHF 156-10dB) is not recommended for use on vessels less than 45' in length. Also available in two-piece version for UPS shipping.

II. SINGLE SIDE BAND ANTENNAS

High Frequency Single Side Band Antennas 2 – 30 MHz

The Morad WH series of unloaded whip antennas is designed for use with built-in and remote antenna couplers — to cover the marine frequencies between 2 and 30 MHz.

The antenna is fed at the base with open wire from the output of the antenna coupler.

All fittings are machined from solid brass and electroless nickel plated. All base tubes and midsections are made of corrosion-resistant aluminum tubing and are gold anodized or white powdercoated to meet Mil specs.

Stainless steel fasteners are used throughout.

Model WH15 (15' overall) consists of an 8', 1" diameter base tube and a 7' fiberglass tip. Available in gold anodized or white powdercoat.

Model WH17 (17' overall)
consists of a 10', 1" diameter base tube and a 7' fiberglass tip. Available in gold anodized or white powdercoat.

Model WH23 (23' overall) consists of a 12', 1-1/2" diameter base tube, a 5', 1" diameter midsection and a 7' fiberglass tip. Available in gold anodized or white powdercoat.

Model WH23-UPS (23' overall) consists of an 8', 1-1/2" diameter base tube, an 8', 1" diameter midsection and a 7' fiberglass tip. Available in gold anodized or white powdercoat.

Model WH28 (28' overall) consists of a 12', 1-1/2" diameter base tube, a 10', 1" diameter midsection and a 7' fiberglass tip. Available in gold anodized or white powdercoat.

III. UHF / CELLULAR

UHF400-HD

The Morad heavy duty UHF antenna is built to the same rugged specifications as the 156HD VHF “Hot Rod” antenna. All parts are anodized aluminum or stainless steel.

This rugged model consistently outperforms competitors’ antennas. Morad’s unique use of a large diameter rod instead of small wire decreases resistance losses and increases radiating power.

The UHF-400 HD is base fed through a VHF-type connector and a 50 ohms coaxial cable. It can be mounted on any Morad 1" diameter stanchion for added elevation.

Morad will build the 400HD to your specified frequency with the same rugged dependability.

I. CB ANTENNAS

Morad’s groundless heavy duty Citizen’s Band antennas are designed for maximum performance during marine use. A low angle of radiation and minimum resistive losses ensures the maximum range for your transmissions.
These antennas each come with 11' of RG-58A/U 50-ohms coaxial cable, and can
be special ordered with additional 11' increments of cable if needed.

CBFG
This fine fiberglass unit is for all weather use on sailboats and powerboats. The antenna is
designed with corrosion-resistant aluminum tubing in all radiating elements, and is hermetically sealed in a tapered fiberglass tip.

The base socket is threaded to fit any 1"-14 standard ratchet mount and 50 ohms permanently attached RG-58A/U cable.

CB 1100
The model CB-1100LD is similar to the CB-1700, but its smaller size makes
it ideal for those installations where height is an important consideration.

Its mid-loading coil reduces its height with only a minimal sacrifice in performance. Like the CB1700, this antenna has a replacable fiberglass tip (Tip 62). A 9" stub tube is fitted to match
the Mount-M600 laydown mount. It can also be used with Morad’s other 1" diameter mounts. (Available in white or gold).

CB 1700
The model CB1700 is a full half-wave groundless marine antenna that provides exceptional performance.

The extremely low loss-matching transformer ensures excellent standing wave ratios, and provides sufficient tuning range to accommodate normal shipboard installations. The antenna has a replacable fiberglass tip (Tip 83). A 9" stub tube is fitted to match the
